Rachel, a friend that I work with, loves to make fun of me and Thomas by calling us "sophisticated." HA! She got this impression because I would always talk about how we played a game the night before (she really got a kick out of it when we played chess); how we had our wine club over the weekend; how we like to eat breakfast and read the paper on the patio on Saturdays; stuff like that. I don't consider this stuff sophisticated, but Rachel informed me that other "normal" people don't play games on the weeknights ... and DEFINITELY not on the weekends. Oops!
Anyway, recently I think we have become much more "unsophisticated." We have latched on to some trash TV like crazy! We now have a weekly TV schedule - boooooooooooo!
Mondays: 1) "The Bachelorette." Why do I watch this complete junk?? Thomas pretty much reads the paper or looks at airplanes on his computer while I watch ... but every once in a while, he chimes in to say how dumb whatever is happening on the screen is.
2) "Extreme Makeover: Weight Loss Edition" - I actually DON'T think this is trash. I think it is amazing and inspiring. I also think it comes on waaaaaaaaaaaayyy to late for this ol' gal. But no worries, when Thomas and I got married he upgraded me from the basic 16 channels to full blown HDTV complete with DVR, which often makes this a Tuesday or Wednesday show. Talk about an unsophisticated crash and burn for my brain cells!
Tuesdays: "The Voice" - This is all Thomas's fault. He loves to hear good singers, and I just got sucked in because I like to be with him. And as a result, I truly believe now that Adam Levine of Maroon 5, Blake Shelton, Thomas and I would all get along really well. I also think Christina Aguilera looks like a train wreck and Cee-Lo looks like a really big oompa-loompa.
Wednesdays: "America's Got Talent" - Ok, actually I sort of hate this show, but for some unknown reason, Thomas has suddenly become addicted. He just cracks up over it. So I tolerate it because it makes him laugh so much. We really watch this DVR-style on Thursdays because we have Bible Study on Wednesdays.
Thursdays: We catch up on all the DVR stuff that I was too tired to stay up and watch.
Fridays: We take a break from TV and try to do other stuff ... thank goodness!!!
I am enjoying a little ''veg" out time this summer. Between family matters, and work insanity, it is nice to just have some mindless time. But, pretty soon, I'd like to get back to our "sophistication" and do a few more interactive things with Thomas. I think TV has its time and place, but nothing beats talking, laughing and whipping some husband-booty in Battleship!!!
