It was hard to come back to Columbia Sunday afternoon after such a good long weekend. Thursday night I travelled to Charleston to begin celebrating the eternal union of two of my dear friends Megyn Burleson and Sam Jefferson. I like to take credit for their relationship. I'll tell you the story of how it all began...
Sam and I met our first summer together after freshman year at Summer Beach Project in Cocoa Beach. I thought Sam was a cool little dude and he drove a cool blue jeep and many times we hung out and travelled to WalMart together. After we returned from beach project, Sam would call me or IM me sometimes to chat and every now and again he would ask me to do something with him. I was really afraid that Sam liked me, so I was always trying to figure out ways not to go out alone with him because I didn't like him back (just for the record Sam says he never liked me, just thought I'd be a cool friend ... which I would be) and so I didn't want to go out with him and make him think I liked him. So I avoided it a few times. Then one evening Sam called me and we chatted and he asked if I had eaten. I forgot it was Wednesday and the cadets could be out, so I didn't lie like I probably would have normally to avoid being invited to dinner. Instead I told him that truthfully, no I hadn't eaten. And bam, just like that Sam asked me to go eat with him. I fumbled a bit and then said only if Megyn could come because I had promised to have dinner with her. That was a fat lie. Luckily, I called Megyn and convinced her to come with us so I didn't have to go alone. During dinner I barely said a word as Megyn and Sam chatted it up. After that Sam pretty much quit calling me and starting calling and IMing Meg all the time ... and as they say ... the rest is history.
So see. My lies finally paid off.
Anyway, so Thursday night we had a bachelorette party, Friday bridal luncheon/lingerie shower and rehearsal dinner, then Saturday morning we decorated and the Saturday we partied it up after they tied the knot! I got to see so many friends that I hadn't seen in a long time and I had a 3 night sleepover with some of my closest friends. There were a few people I thought I would get to see who were MIA (the butts brothers for instance) so that was sad but still, an awesome weekend and now a sad return to Columbia where i'm all by my lonesome since school is on a break.
I'll post pictures al tiro ... as we say in Chile. I was having some trouble getting the pictures to load and I'm too tired to keep trying. Perhaps tomorrow there will be visual accompaniment (is that a word and is that how it is spelled??)
